Guild Event Guide: Cantrip Chest Runs

WIZARD101 · GUILD MUSEUM CONTENT

Overview

Cantrip chests are a key part of progressing your Guild Museum or Player Benefit Events, especially when you hit Bronze level and beyond. These special chests require exactly 3 players to open simultaneously using the Magic Touch cantrip and contain Prima Materia needed for exhibit upgrades, plus bonus spellements!

What You Get

  • Prima Materia — required for Bronze+ exhibits
  • Spellements — various schools

Key Facts

  • Exactly 3 players required to open
  • 5 energy per player per chest (15 total)
  • Rewards are individual — everyone gets their own

Group Requirements

You CANNOT open cantrip chests solo or with 2 or 4+ players. All 3 Magic Touch casts must be simultaneous.

No specific schools needed — any composition works. Communication is the most important factor.

Running Multiple Groups

Your guild can run multiple 3-person teams simultaneously across different zones or realms!

6

players → 2 groups

9

players → 3 groups

12

players → 4 groups

If chests aren't respawning, change realms. Maximizes Prima Magnetism Elixir efficiency across the guild!

Requirements: Must be able to access the world you're farming, have an active Membership, have completed Cantrips 101 and 102, and have a Prima Magnetism Elixir active. Recommended to be level-appropriate for the world.

Pre-Run Preparation

Step 1 · Form Your 3-Person Team

  • Coordinate in guild chat which 3 people will run together
  • Agree on which world/zone to farm (Avalon, Khrysalis, etc.)
  • Make sure everyone has Magic Touch cantrip learned (costs 5 energy per cast)

Step 2 · Pack Supplies

  • Energy: Each chest costs 15 total energy (5 per person)
  • Combat Prep: Bring basic healing if needed for random encounters
  • Inventory Space: Clear some backpack slots for rewards

Step 3 · Activate Prima Magnes

Before you can collect Prima Materia from chests, you must activate the Prima Magnes:

1. Craft a Quintescent Core (Finn Celtus — 90 Azoth or 1 Quintessence)
2. Prime the Prima Magnes — Use Core at Prima Magnes (SW of Museum Island)
3. Have 2–12 guild members cast Magic Touch on it
4. All participants receive Prima Magnetism Elixir

Prima Materia per Chest Based on Activation Size

×1

2–5 players

×2

6–11 players

×3

12+ players

IMPORTANT: The Prima Magnes has an almost 2-day cooldown — coordinate with your guild to maximize participation!

Farming Strategy

Opening Procedure

Cantrip chests spawn at fixed locations in each world (Maps — COMING SOON). They appear as glowing chests that require 3 players.

Pro Tip: Set up tapestries near portal locations for quick access to farming zones!

1 Locate the chest — All 3 players gather around it
2 Position yourselves — Stand close enough that all can interact
3 Cast Magic Touch — All 3 click the chest simultaneously
4 Collect loot — Everyone receives individual rewards

Efficient Route Planning

Method 1

Systematic Zone Clearing

  • Enter a zone and mark all chest locations
  • Clear chests in a logical order (clockwise, nearest-to-farthest)
  • Move to next zone when current zone is cleared

Method 2

High-Density Farming

  • Focus on zones with multiple chests close together
  • Use maps from community resources (Wizard101Central forums)
  • Cycle through these high-value zones

Method 3

Combat Integration

  • Combine chest runs with boss/enemy farming
  • Kill enemies for Prima Materia while traveling between chests
  • Maximize elixir efficiency

Advanced Tips

Maximizing Prima Materia

  • With 12+ activation, each chest gives ×3 Prima Materia
  • Plan longer farming sessions around the 2-day cooldown
  • Coordinate multiple 3-person teams running simultaneously

Communication

Voice Chat (Recommended)

  • Fastest for countdown coordination
  • Call out chest locations in real-time
  • Reduces typing time between chests

Time-Saving

  • Use Mounts — Always be mounted for faster travel
  • Skip Optional Fights — Avoid unnecessary enemies
  • Prepare Decks — Small decks for quick battles if needed
  • Portal Markers — Teleport markers for quick zone access

Chest Won't Open

  • Verify all 3 players are in position
  • Check everyone has enough energy (5 each)

Player Disconnected

  • You'll need to find a replacement 3rd
  • Unopened chests remain available
  • Consider keeping a 4th person on standby

Exhibit Progression Guide

Bronze Level

  • Some exhibits require cantrip chests PLUS boss fights
  • Check each exhibit's requirements at the pedestal
  • Not all Bronze exhibits need chests

Silver Level

  • Chest requirements typically increase
  • More Prima Materia needed overall
  • Coordinate with guild on exhibit priorities

Gold Level

  • Highest chest & Prima Materia requirements
  • Coordinate with guild on exhibit priorities
  • Plan farming sessions around cooldowns

Final Tips

Best Practices

  • Run during peak guild hours for easier team formation
  • Communicate exhibit goals before starting
  • Take wisp breaks as needed — no rush!
  • Celebrate when you unlock new exhibits!

Guild Coordination

  • Share chest location maps in guild Discord
  • Rotate who joins different runs
  • Help newer members learn the routes
  • Track which exhibits are close to completion

Long-Term Strategy

  • Focus on one gallery at a time (Avalon, then Khrysalis)
  • Coordinate Prima Magnes activations with guild events
  • Save Azoth/Quintessence for when you can farm actively

Happy farming, Wizards — every chest brings the Museum one step closer to greatness!
