August was a historic month for Golden Gamers United — we celebrated our 10th anniversary as a community, welcomed new staff members to our teams, and rolled out a completely redesigned website and forum experience. Major infrastructure improvements also went live to connect our Discord and forum communities in new ways. Read on for all the highlights.

 

Community Milestones

 

10th Anniversary Celebration

August 10th marked an incredible milestone: Golden Gamers United celebrated its 10th anniversary. A full decade of gaming together, countless raids, epic wins, hilarious losses, and unforgettable memes. The community has built friendships that have outlasted console generations and continues to grow stronger every year. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and passion of every member who has been part of GGU over the past ten years.

 

Staff Updates

 

Wizard101 Staff Promotions

On August 16th, we announced the latest round of Wizard101 staff promotions, recognizing team members who have demonstrated dedication to the community, consistently assisted our players, and helped keep Wizard101 moving forward. These promotions strengthen our support structure and ensure the Wizard101 community continues to thrive.

 

Platform Updates & Features

 

New GGU Theme for 2026

On August 22nd, we officially rolled out the new GGU Theme for 2026. Our website and forums received a major visual overhaul, introducing a new dark glass-and-gold design built specifically for Golden Gamers United. The refreshed gold, amber, and bronze visual identity creates a cohesive look across all community platforms while maintaining the warm, welcoming atmosphere our members know and love.

Community Chat Launch

On August 23rd, we officially launched Community Chat, a brand-new chatbox built directly into the GGU Forums. Community Chat is more than just another forum feature — it connects the GGU Forums and Discord together, allowing members on either platform to participate in the same conversation. Whether you are browsing the forums or in Discord, you can now engage in real-time chat with the entire community. This integration breaks down barriers between platforms and creates a more unified Golden Gamers United experience.

Discord Infrastructure Improvements

Several backend improvements were made to our Discord server in August. On August 10th, we updated how categories look to give the server a cleaner appearance. On the same date, we reverted Announcement channel updates, with guild updates now posted in the dedicated channels. Additionally, on August 2nd, Trade server MOTDs were updated to include more information, with updates available via the rules documentation. These changes enhance navigation and ensure information flows to the right channels more efficiently.

 

Game Events

 

Wizard101 August Events Calendar

The Wizard101 Events Calendar was shared multiple times throughout August (on August 17th, 24th, and 31st) to keep all members informed of upcoming in-game events and activities. Be sure to check the announcements channel regularly for the latest event details and schedules to plan your gaming sessions accordingly.

August was a transformative month for Golden Gamers United. As we look ahead to our second decade, we're grateful for the community that has made GGU what it is today. Whether you've been here since day one or just joined recently, you are part of something special.
