Our custom Discord bot launched with powerful new features, staff promotions strengthened our guild leadership, and we established an exciting partnership to help members save on in-game purchases. Here's everything that happened this month. Community Infrastructure GGU Bot Launch June 4th marked the official rollout of our custom-built Discord bot, a major milestone for the community. The bot brings an enhanced leveling system with XP tracking, level-up roles, and custom rank cards to improve engagement across the server. These additions make it easier to recognize active members and foster a more interactive community environment. Security & Moderation Enhancements Throughout June, a series of critical updates strengthened our server's security and moderation capabilities. On June 4th, Bot Fight Mode was activated, automatically banning accounts that rapidly spam links or attachments—a common tactic used by raid and scam bots. Messages from banned accounts are automatically purged, while exempt roles and members with Manage Messages permission are never affected. Additional improvements included the implementation of Automatic Evidence Creation, which captures message content during moderation actions (bans, mutes, warnings) and forwards it to the Global Moderation Review Hub for staff review. A longstanding issue where ban DMs were sent twice was also resolved, improving the user experience during moderation events. On June 16th, role permissions were adjusted to prevent normal users from pinging roles that should be staff-only, closing a potential security gap. The Honeypot channel was also relocated to the top of the server for better visibility. Forum & Bot Improvements On June 3rd, the forums received a branding fix to the Favicon, and the GGU Bot gained the ability to generate and distribute newsletter digests directly to both Discord and the forums. This new feature streamlines community communication and ensures members across both platforms stay informed. These infrastructure upgrades represent our commitment to maintaining a safe, engaging, and well-organized community space for all members. Staff Updates Guild Staff Promotions On June 16th, the Battling Cats Wizard101 guild welcomed two new Event Coordinators to its staff team. Katie (User ID: 1400013155010089041) and Wraiven (User ID: 304701621936586752) were both promoted to Wizard101 Guild Staff positions, bringing fresh energy and organizational talent to the guild's event planning efforts. These promotions strengthen our ability to coordinate engaging activities and community gatherings. Community Partnerships Arcane Convenience Partnership On June 5th, Golden Gamers United announced a partnership with Arcane Convenience, a trusted Wizard101 trading and service community. Arcane Convenience operates a server with 280+ members and maintains a zero-complaint record since launch, making them a reliable partner for our community. Through this partnership, GGU members gain access to significant savings on Wizard101 purchases. Arcane Convenience offers 80,000 Crown codes at prices consistently lower than the official store (currently $85, with sale prices even lower). They also provide Crown gifting services at a rate of 800 Crowns for $1, allowing members to purchase any giftable Crown Shop item at a discount. Additionally, they offer Azoth self-service at $1.50 per unit, and a variety of other trading and service options. This partnership provides real value to members looking to maximize their in-game spending. Visit the Arcane Convenience server (details in the #announcements channel) to explore their full range of offerings. Community Safety Wallpaper Engine Security Alert On June 19th, the community received an important security reminder regarding Wallpaper Engine. Evidence indicates that Wallpaper Engine has become a vector for malware distribution. Many wallpapers available through both the application and Steam Workshop have been found to contain malicious code. Members are strongly advised to exercise caution when downloading any software or content, and to be especially vigilant about Wallpaper Engine wallpapers. Always verify the source and reputation of downloads before installing them on your system. Your safety is our priority. Stay informed, stay cautious, and reach out to staff if you have any security concerns. Thanks for being part of Golden Gamers United.
